We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Second in English from April or September 2012. This is a new position to support the development of a rapidly improving department in a successful school. Last year GCSE English results improved significantly and we anticipate further success this year.
You will have a proven track record of success in the classroom and must be able to demonstrate the talent, interpersonal skills and leadership skills required to inspire and motivate students and colleagues. You will aspire, and have the potential, to lead an English Department in the future. Above all, you must have a passion for your subject and be able to embed an enjoyment of English into your lessons.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for teaching and learning across Key Stage 3, reviewing and developing schemes of work and resources, addressing gaps in attainment of underachieving students and ensuring progression is adequately monitored and achievements maximized. You will also deputise for the Head of Department when required and share in the drive to raise literacy standards across the school.
