Common Proceedures & Checks for Teachers:
- A full CRB check in the UK, even if you claim to have not been here before
- A List 99 check to ensure that you are not a blacklisted teacher
- Require criminal clearance from a your home country if you're not British
- Have a face-to-face photo ID check (using a passport and/or driving licence) during an interview
- Require proof of your ID in another form such as a birth certificate
- Need a list of residences for the last 5 years
- Need two separate proofs of your current address (e.g. bank statement, utilities / council tax bill)
- Need proofs of qualification to teach (ideally the originals, and English translations may be required)
- Provide details of two referees including one who can assess work in your most recent teaching post (the training establishment is used where the candidate is a Newly Qualified Teacher or NQT)
- Check that you have a National Insurance number (NINo)
- Ask for proof of your GTC registration – very much recommended though not yet a legal requirement
- Need to see a marriage certificate (where there is a name change)
- Make checks on current CVs to establish reliability and explain any gaps in employment
- Need proof of eligibility to work in the UK and confirmation of a candidate’s right to reside and work here.
- Ask for proof of enrolment on the Worker Registration Scheme if candidates are from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia or Slovenia
