Special Needs Teacher - ASD - Secondary

We are working with a mixed day school for students aged 11-19 with a primary diagnosis of Autism or Asperger's Syndrome. The main focus of the school is to meet the teaching and learning needs of students with Autistic Spectrum Disorders where these cannot be met in a mainstream school.

* Relevant teaching experience with recent experience of working with pupils with SEN in mainstream, special school settings or resourced provision.
* Excellent communication skills to engage and motivate students, parents and staff.
* A strong commitment to inclusion and ensuring that all pupils realise their potential.
* The commitment, dedication, determination and organisational skills required to succeed in such a demanding role.
* A strong commitment to multi-disciplinary teamwork.
* Excellent skills in planning individual programmes for pupils with SEN.
* Ability to manage support staff and deploy them efficiently.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of training initiatives to raise awareness and develop expertise in ASD.

You will be required to work with a small class of pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The role will entail delivering core subjects to secondary aged students. You must have good knowledge of Pecs and Makaton. You must also be a qualified teacher and have previously worked with special needs students (ASD).
