Axcis Education are looking to recruit a qualified Secondary Teacher of Psychology for a good school in South West London. Required from March 2011 for a maternity cover in a large, over-subscribed, non-selective, secondary school with a mixed sixth form in a local authority which retains selection at 11+. This "exceptional school, where learning flourishes" (Ofsted 2007) is seeking to appoint, from March 2011, a well qualified and enthusiastic teacher to teach Psychology with a willingness to contribute to Health & Social Care. These subjects are very popular at AS/A2 level and results are consistently very good. The department is well resourced. You will be expected to carry out the following; " Plan appropriate work in accordance with Examination boards specifications. " Liaise with relevant colleagues on the planning of units of work for collaborative delivery. " Take account of students' prior level of attainment and use them to set targets for future improvements. " Adopt most appropriate teaching strategies to meet student learning needs. " Set work for students absent from school for long-term health or disciplinary reasons. " Maintain good discipline by adherence to the advice given to staff in the staff handbook and elsewhere. " Set high expectations for behaviour by establishing a purposeful working atmosphere in accordance with the school's behaviour code and assertive discipline policies. " Set appropriate and demanding expectations for students' learning, motivation and presentation of work. " Promote good attendance and monitor in accordance with the school's attendance policy. " Work in collaboration with Teaching Assistants attached to any teaching group. " Provide a stimulating environment by taking responsibility for the assigned teaching space and all equipment.
